I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was in shock. I heard yesterday that Prince passed away. I do not know the cause of death, and really, it doesn’t matter. I’m shocked that he’s gone. It is so true when it is said that tomorrow is not promised so live each day to the fullest. WOW – I’m just in shock.
Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Prince were three of the more influential musicians in my life growing up. They were just always there. I do not remember a time they were not there. So although I did not know any of them personally, my heart cries a little bit for each one at the news of their passing. You have to understand, Michael Jackson was my fiancé at one point – lol. I remember being 10yrs old and believing I was going to marry the man. No matter what anyone wants to say about Michael he was a rare talent and a legend in his own right. Whitney, what can I say? I remember when her video, The Greatest Love of All, came out. OH MY GOODNESS – the white sparkly dress? The voice? The meaning behind the song? At one point I wanted to be Whitney as she screamed beautiful, talented, strong, black woman to me as a kid. There has been and still is no voice like hers. And now Prince. In my head, Prince and Michael would fight over me. Give me a break, I was a kid heavily influenced by the soap operas my mom used to watch – lol. In all seriousness though, Prince’s music in the 80s and 90s, well, it was amazing. Condolences to his family, loved ones, and loyal fans. LaShawn – I know this one hit you hard. Love you girl.
I don’t have much to share today other than cherish your loved ones, live today to the best of your abilities, and take NOTHING for granted. Not preaching, just sharing. Wishing you all the best and have a fantabulous weekend.
Remember to always – Believe in You!
