How many times have you thought, “I wish I had the time to put together some really chic looking outfits” or “I don’t know how to put the clothes I have together to make them look great”? Well, you are not alone.
I’m a coach – I help you set and accomplish your goals. However, in addition, part of the work I do with clients is help them hone in on their sense of style. How you present yourself is vital in such a competitive world. Putting your best foot forward can make all the difference between you getting the job or the next person walking through the interview doors getting the job. However, good news!! With the rise of social media, sites such as Pinterest have been a saving grace for so many because it is a great place to go to get some great looks. My other company, Pink Ink, was part of a daily clothing capsule last year where we selected about 25 pieces of clothing and made different outfits for our followers on a daily basis. This way, there was no thought about what to wear in the morning and they always looked stylish!! It was called Daily Glam and it was so much fun!!
One of the things I want you to know when it comes to style, is that even though you may not feel it, you do have your own “look”. Granted, it may need to be updated or maybe you are amazing at putting yourself together but you want to change your look a bit. No matter where you fall on the spectrum of style knowledge, looking great comes down to knowledge. You need to know what colours look best on you, what your body shape is so you know what types of clothing fall best on you, what hair style will best compliment you and therefore understanding your face shape… Didn’t know there was so much involved huh? Well over the next few Wednesdays I’m going to help y’all out so don’t even worry. Within a month you will be your own diva fashionista! But remember, whether you follow the trends or not, YOU have a sense of style – the way your clothes fit you, the way you wear your hat tilted to the side, or the scarf slightly off centered etc… that’s all you. We’ll get into more of that in the weeks to come. Now, as promised, here are some tips to help you out now:
If you need a little more help than the person working in the retail store, just google “stylist in [type name of your city]” and a list should come up. When hiring a stylist, ensure that they are a good fit for you. Meet with them for a coffee or have a conversation with them over the phone or even a Skype call! You have to like your stylist and trust your stylist. You may want to look at some of the work they’ve done as well. Best way to do this – creep them on facebook and see how THEY present themselves. If they take care of their own details, they should take care of yours.
Pink Ink , Image and Style works with and is associated with a number of stylists around the globe so if you need some help contact jen@pinkinkimage.com (me) or rita@pinkinkimage.com and we will point you in the right direction. In the meantime – Style On!!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
(Rita and I being funny)
Send in your pics with regards to your own sense of style. Questioning a look? Send it in and I will give you my honest opinion – promise.
Believing in you,
