If you answered “ummmmm…..well…..YES.”to any of these questions, I am going to ask you straight up – how come? No matter what, unless you are still 18 or 22, if your makeup is the same as it was 10+ years ago, it is not going to look the same on your skin now as it did 10+ years ago. No way. No how. You are a more mature woman now (embrace it). AND believe it or not, makeup has an expiration date! If your makeup is over five years old, it could be causing some damage to your skin!! But back to our maturity – with time comes the wonderful realization that our skin has changed and will continue to change. As we grow older, we are starting to have less elasticity in our skin–and it is likely a bit more textured than the smooth, plump skin we had in our youth. Side bar – you can help this process by adopting a really good skin care routine – cleanse, tone, moisturize. It’s best to stick with one brand when choosing your skin care products as they were made to work optimally together! Pink Ink (Style and Image consultancy) did a bit of an informal research a few years back on various brands. Check it out here. Remember, this chart is a bit dated so prices and packages may have changed.
And our hair also has changed. Especially if you’ve had children. For some, our hair is curlier, straighter, thinner or thicker. We are forced to embrace these changes. Instead of fighting them – work with them. What’s that saying? Be a lover not a fighter!
Not only have our bodies, skin, and hair matured, but styles have changed and evolved too! The more we stick to our old styles, the older we look. For real. It is true that styles always come back. Like the wedge came back and left and came back. The bell bottom pant came and went and came back. Vintage clothing is cool! BUT if you wear something vintage at the wrong place and in the wrong cycle, well, it just doesn’t get pulled off right – lol. It’s easy to keep up with the trends while still being you, just take a look at the magazines while you are in the check out line at the store. Or google Fashion Style 2016 – you will see some great looks. Then take what you have and copy. I follow this investor guy, Tai Lopez , and he’s always quoting one of the greats by saying something about the most successful people take someone else’s idea and makes it better. So, take the look that is popular and make it better! Make it your own!
Not sure how? Call up a local stylist in your area or Skype/email/message a consultant at Pink Ink – we’ll hook you up.
Being on trend does not mean you have to purchase a whole new wardrobe or pretend to be someone you are not. Having the most up to date style does not mean you will suddenly be happy and fulfilled either. It’s just a piece of the puzzle. We have various areas in life that when put together make us who we are. Need some help getting some of those puzzle pieces to fit? Give me a shout – I’d love to help.
Come back and visit on Friday. We had some people send in questions. It will be fun.
