HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I truly wish you all the best that this year (and decade) have to offer!
At this time of year, many people find it to be the time where they make new commitments to themselves and reflect on the past. This time of year can be exciting for some and depressing for others. It really depends on your mindset.
Setbacks are opportunities to reflect, learn and do better. It’s not the time to beat yourself up, fall into feelings of depression or to get angry with yourself for not accomplishing last year’s goals. There are tons of resources to help you with creating a growth mindset (looking at the positive and making lemonade out of lemons – lol). One of those resources is RIGHT HERE!
Over the last month we have looked at 9 strategies to help create/develop a growth mindset. Check them out here:
Hack #10 is to BE SELFISH! What I mean by this is that we have to be mindful of our own self-care. In order to be successful at self-care we must be purposeful about it. This means we need to plan for it, save for it, but above all DO IT!
There are so many sayings that speak to the importance of self-care –
You can’t give from an empty cup.
When the well is dry we understand the worth of water – Benjamin Franklin
Self care is not self indulgence. Self care is self respect – gateway
And trust me – the list goes on and on and on.
Part of developing a growth mindset is taking care of your foundation – mind, body and spirit. Why? Well when you are hungry, when you are tired, when you are surrounded by negativity, it is really difficult to see the bright side of things. It’s difficult to set goals and be hopeful. It’s difficult to change your thoughts when your mind bombards you with negativity. I am therefore going to encourage you to spend some time really figuring out what you enjoy and then I’m going to encourage you to go out and DO IT! Fall in love with yourself because you are worth it. I’m not just saying that I truly mean it. I don’t care what you did in your past (whether that past is 10yrs ago or 10min ago) what I care about is what you do right now. I care about what you think of you and how you choose to live a fulfilled life. In a world that is so damn fast paced, it is so very necessary for us to stop, take a breath, and enjoy!
