You may have noticed by now that creating a growth mindset and goal achievement may seem to go hand in hand based on the information I have been providing to you over the course of this month. Keep in mind that in my world, goal achievement does not mean that you have accomplished your intended goal. For me, it means that you TRIED, LEARNED, and will TRY AGAIN if the intended result was not achieved. Therefore, to look at goal achievement in this way, we need to have a growth mindset. Am I right?
Before we move forward, let’s review our Growth Mindset hacks thus far:
Hack #5 – Create & Execute the Plan. This is where many people end up stuck – in the creation and execution phases.
Once you have made a decision, set some your goals, got your accountability partner and you have set your mind up for success with your daily affirmations and your beliefs, you are ready to create your plan. Ask yourself the following questions:
How am I going to accomplish my goal?
What resources do I need?
Who do I need to connect with?
Where do I need to network?
What challenges/habits do I have that could prevent me from executing the plan?
What can I do to circumvent or to plan for when the challenges come? (because trust me, they will)
Do not leave any stone unturned. When you develop a habit of planning out your goals, your level of success skyrockets. This is called strategizing. Your strategy will help you win. Let me give you an example.
Have you ever played monopoly?
So many people think that by buying Boardwalk and Park Place you will automatically win the game – and maybe you will! However, when you pass go, if you strategize to try and own at least two color blocks and put hotels and houses on them, you will ALWAYS be collecting money from everyone that passes on that street. Am I right? Plan your strategy.
The reason why many of you get bogged down at the planning stage is because you are looking to create the PERFECT plan. However, execution is probably more important than the actual plan because if you have a great plan and no execution you have nothing. If you have an ok plan and great execution, you can learn from the mistakes and keep on moving. An important point to note when executing – expect that the plan will change.
Sometimes we bump into situations that we were not expecting and we have to re-strategize. That’s ok! Flexibility is important and it is needed when we’re talking about developing a growth mindset.
Create your plan. Strategize and execute. Work on it daily and BELIEVE that you will succeed. I believe in you. You got this!
